Music plays a very important part in the services of worship. At the traditional services it is led by our enthusiastic choir of volunteers supported by our Chamber Group of six semi-professional singers, all under the  guidance  of our experienced Choir Leader, Walter Thomson, and accompanied by our highly skilled organist, Kate Pearson.  .A well as  the singing of hymns the choir sing an introit and an anthem appropriate to the theme of the service.

The present COVID restrictions prevent the volunteers from singing in the chancel, but they sing the hymns as members of the congregation,  masked while singing but no less enthusiastically.  For the moment the introit and anthem are sung by the Chamber Group, in the chancel behind Perspex screens

As well as accompanying the choir and hymns, Kate Pearson plays opening and closing organ voluntaries.

At the All Age services more contemporary hymns are sung accompanied by a rota of volunteer pianists or by Kate on the organ.

Below are examples of hymns and anthems recorded remotely and individually by members of the Chamber Group at the time when COVID restrictions prevented live services which could only go out on line.

O send thy light forth
O nata lux de lumine
Comfort, O Lord, the soul

If Ye Love me

In dulci Jubilo
O God My King
Expectans Expectavi
Hosanna, Hossanna
Angels from the realms
It was a starry night
Tell out my soul
Thou visitest the earth
We plough the fields
Cantata Domino
Lord for the years
In the cross of Christ I glory
On Jordan's bank
Hark! the herald-angels sing
Love divine, all loves excelling
The Lord’s my Shepherd
The God Abraham praise
Christ is our light
In the Bleak Midwinter

O come, O come, Emmanuel
Lord of the dance
For all the saints
The Saviour died
